For a long time, residents have looked forward to a solution that would reduce the volume of school traffic flowing through our local streets. This new road is the answer we’ve been waiting for.
- Enhanced Safety & Peace: By diverting school-bound commuters to a dedicated access point, we expect a significant decrease in “cut-through” traffic during drop-off and pick-up hours.
- A Safer Commute: The project aims to create a more efficient and safer environment for families walking their children to school and for staff heading to work.
- No Construction Headaches: Construction is slated to begin by the end of February 2026. The best part? Traffic flow on the Avenue of Learning will remain uninterrupted throughout the project.
A Major Selling Point for The Orchards

“This additional road is long overdue,” says Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford. “We expect it to be complete this summer and ready for school traffic at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year”.

The contract has been awarded to DuBose Construction Company. We are on a fast track to improvement, with the goal of having everything operational before the first bell rings this fall.+1
